soccer

He heads it into the net. It costs us ice cream (for the entire team) each time he does. He scores goals from half field. He is an awesome defensive player. He has taken on a new role this season. He hasn't been thrilled about it. He does it away. He plays with his heart and soul. He loves his new red/white jersey...this boy loves red like his Mama. He is one of the team captains. He loves the game.

We love to watch him do his thing!

Association Cup Champs

{Carter is on the bottom, 2nd from the left}
They did it! Carter and his team BATTLE won the entire Association cup games. This is Carter's 2nd year playing with team BATTLE. These boys play so well together...total team work on so many levels. Carter has loved every minute of it. The coaches are dedicated and are so good with the boys. Carter was nominated as one of the team captains this season. The coaches said that carter was a great team leader and always has a positive attitude. His friend Justin was the other co-captain. Here are a few photos from their big win! We are so proud of them.

We are so proud of all of the BATTLE boys.

It is official, I am on a star kick. Here is this weeks layout. Instead of re-inventing the wheel each time I sit down to create a new layout, I will sometimes use a layout that has already been created and stashed in our albums.. Remember this layout from February? I used the same layout and created this soccer layout.

I love that these photos are from this past weekend...yes, you read that right :-). I love that they are already scrapbooked. I love that I was able to use random scraps of B&W pattern paper from my stash to create my stars. I love that I had all of the supplies on hand, in my stash.

I have star punches and star die cuts for my Quickutz but I always go back to this template.

The template comes from a Heidi Swapp package of acetate stars. The stars were cute, I used each and every one of them. I can't tell you how many times I have used this template to create stars for my layouts. I just trace and cut. I love when I can reuse something over and over again...totally feel like I got my moneys worth :-). Do you have an inexpensive/recycled scrap tool or technique that you use over and over again? Please share.

league champs

team valor took the league champ title this year. they had an awesome season. they had 26 wins. 3 ties. 4 losses. this was an interesting year for tanner. he played up a level, making him one of the youngest boys on the u-12 team(as a 10 year old). it was a big accomplishment for him & he worked hard for that spot on the team. we are so proud of him & his entire team. the team also played in the association cup tournament. they made it through the first weekend but sadly lost this last saturday.

p.s. i wish i could say that soccer is over for the season...but we still have tanner & carter playing on indoor teams...soccer season lives on at our house.

district cup champs

Carter had an amazing soccer season. This was his first year playing select soccer. His little team, team BATTLE was A-MAZING. The boys just gelled. The coaches put their hearts & soul into this team & made the season so much fun for ALL of the boys. So, after the regular season ended, team BATTLE played in the District Cup. Carter’s team took first place, taking that District Cup title. He had two hat tricks during this tournament but our absolute favorite play, was the goal he headed right in to the goal box. His pal, Hunt took a corner shot that Carter just nailed right into the goal. Not gonna lie, it was AWESOME.

The rule is, if any of the boys get a header during a game, their parents have to buy ice cream for the team. Since it was a warm 48 degrees that weekend, we opted to treat the team to homemade cookies & chocolate milk.

Now that the regular season is over, Carter has moved on to indoor soccer. This boy really does keep us in the car.

KOTW

Here is the Kit Of The Week that was released today at Green Tangerines. Kelly(my boss) handed me the green Cosmo cricket pattern paper & asked "do you have soccer pictures & can you make a soccer layout with this paper"? Do I have soccer pictures...only by the memory cards full :-)! I am always up for the challenge. Away I went with my pattern paper & a few supplies. Here is a peek at what I came up with.

In this weeks kit, you will find Bazzill cardstock, Cosmo Cricket pattern paper, Thickers by American Crafts, Fuzzy brads, hand cut stars(yes, you read that right, hand cut), and a custom soccer ball die cut.

A HUGE shout out to Mer. She designs these lovely little peeks at the KOTW's for all the scrapbooking world to see. She is over the top talented. I wish she had a blog so I could link you all to her amazing work...hopefully some day soon!

While I am on the topic of scrapbooking & Green Tangerines, here is another peek for you! This is this months kit. It is amazing! It is packed with yummy pattern papers, fun embellishments, cute ribbons & so much more. Check it out!

Word on the GTKC blog is that the product found in this months kit hasn't even hit the floor at GT. Kit Club members are getting a go at it FIRST. How awesome is that? I am hoping to dig into my kit tomorrow during Brody's nap. If you want more info about the GTKC, call the store at 916-771-8010.

Carter has escaped a few haircuts this summer. Each & every time it was "his turn" to line up for a haircut, Carter would say "No thanks". He was firm about it too. He told us that he wanted to grow is hair out for his 1st soccer tournament of the season. What???

So, my cute 8 year old boy walks out of the bathroom looking like this yesterday!
Here is the soccer playing, rock star.

I had heard mention of a faux hawk for this tournament... but this is a full on Mohawk. I got a good chuckle out of his new style & am thankful he is a boy! One more haircut & we can take care of that hawk :-)!

We sat out in the 105 degree weather (in Folsom) for 5 hours today! It was hotter than HOT! Despite the heat, Carter had an awesome game. He scored two goals in the first game & was a great defensive player. It is so much fun to watch him play. The coach knows he can count on Carter to play his best wherever he plays on the field. They won their first game by 2 & lost their last by one goal. Way to go team Battle.

I am looking forward to the new soccer season but am not looking forward to the heat.

random tidbits

We enjoyed a busy, crazy week. i thought i would highlight our experiences/happenings random style.

first & for most, i am very happy that Prop 8 passed. On the other hand, I am very sad & disappointed with those who think it is okay to vandalize our church buildings. Somebody thought it was okay to spray paint no on prop 8 with red paint on our building & the sidewalks. Enough is enough, this is so not acceptable & it makes me so sad. Again, tolerance is a two way street.

I was so excited when my total gas bill(filling up a Chevy Tahoe)was $59.53 on Friday. WOOT-WOOT! Need i say more?

I was able to attend Carter's harvest party. They had a Thanksgiving feast. I will have to post photos later. The room mom even made them cute pilgrim & indian hats to wear. So cute & festive. they enjoyed a full turkey meal and arts & crafts...my kind of party.

As of last Friday, my 12 week Race to a Waist challenge ended. While i was not the 1st place loser, i did manage to lose 25 lbs. i am extremely happy about that. i came in 6th place out of the 25 women who registered...not bad. We are going to start up another challenge in jan.. I will keep you posted just in case any of you want to join in on the fun!

One of my favorite friends in the whole wide world came to visit me on friday night. Michelle came up & we attended Scrappy Hour @ Green Tangerines. it was so much fun to have her here. i sure do miss her & wish we lived closer. I am trying to convince her that they need to buy the house that is for sale next door. That would be awesome.

We had our family photos taken on saturday. i am praying that there is one decent shot of everyone. i need a Christmas card photo. Brody did not want to hold still & Garrett was flashing one CHEESE-EY SMILE the entire time. Fingers are crossed. We finished our shoot just in time...It started to pour rain.

Soccer Saturday was fabulous. Tanner's team won 6 to 0. Tanner scored two of those goals & I even caught one of them on film. I love this shot. That is Tanner, #14. I love how he is off the ground celebrating & that you can see the ball in the goal. So exciting.

Carter's team won 2 to 0. Carter scored a goal. john was so impressed with his team. He said they played awesome & were playing their positions & passing the ball. Carter is in the white jersey in the photo below! Thanks to Regine for the awesome photos.

I have been busy making little scrapbooks for Carter's soccer team. 8 down, 5 to go. John will hand them out along with the boys trophies @ the team party on the 12th. I will post pictures once they are complete.

I had a very productive planning meeting for our church Christmas party tonight. we are buckling down & planning the festivities for our Nativity pageant and dessert bar. it should be a fun evening. I have a great committee & I am thankful for their help!

I am off to work on Soccer albums. Stayed tuned for my coupon post tomorrow. i scored a major deal this weekend. Don't forget to check out Laina's site. She is posting deals everyday...perfect for all of the upcoming holidays & baking.

Have a happy Monday!

Our week...randomness style

We have had a very relaxing weekend! So much so that I have stayed in my pj's all day long. I love when it is a General Conference weekend. These kind of weekends seem very few & far between...but I sure am LOVING it! Here is a little randomness from our week/weekend!

First off, can I just say "I LOVE FALL". This is the first weekend it finally felt cool. I wore a long sleeved zip up sweatshirt on Friday & even wore jeans(not Capri's) yesterday morning to the soccer game. I think it time to pull out the Fall decorations. This is my all time favorite season.

I was able to scrapbook on Friday night with friends @ Green Tangerines. We were able to scrapbook from 5pm to midnight. I totally meant to bring my camera but forgot. I was able to get two Christmas presents (well) underway & that feels good. I have decided that all of the Christmas crafting will be done by Dec. 1st. I really want to enjoy my holidays this year.

Soccer Saturday was fabulous! We had two 9 am games. While I did not get to watch Carter play, both games were done by 10 am-YAY! I think that contributed to the relaxing weekend. Carter's team won 4 to 0 & two of those goals were Carter's. Way to GO Carter. You can click on each photo to make them bigger, I am not sure why they are so small.

Here is the team banner that John designed. He then had a company in Long Beach make it. It turned out AWESOME!

Tanner's team had another loss, 6 to 0. The boys were so bummed. Tanner played REALLY well. He had 3 of the 4 shots on goal & they were so close to making it in the net. I was proud of him & his determination.

Brody started shrieking during the soccer game yesterday! I took him for a walk around the perimeter of the field & he was being so funny I had to snap a few photos. This is what I get when I say "smile":

or sometimes I will get this:

If you ask him where his head is, you will get this:

If you ask him about his ears, you get this. You pray he shows you his ears & not your own(he pulls pretty hard -lol).

I love this baby boy, shrieking & all.

I made $236.00 @ the Green Tangerines Trash to Treasure sale last weekend! I am so stoked. That is $236.00 worth of store credit @ the scrapbook store & $236.00 worth of "STUFF" out of my scrapbook room. Gotta love that!

I walked on my treadmill for 85 minutes last night. I was able to catch the Notebook on TV & it made my walking time go fast. The Notebook is one of my all time favorite movies.

Tanner has been bugging,I mean asking me to help him create a soccer binder. He wants a place to keep his schedules, game plans, & photos. We have made two trips to the scrapbook store to pick out paper, embellishments & an album. This is what we have worked on so far.

He picked out the photos, helped place gingham ribbon down the side & then I helped him adhere the photos to the cover of his album. He then Mod Podged the entire thing & once it dried he added epoxy soccer stickers. He is doing an awesome job. He keeps saying "lets go back to your scrapbook room to work on my book". Too funny! He is so like me...once I start something, I want to work on it until it is complete.

I can't wait to pick up the Sunday paper. We don't get the paper delivered so I have to wait till tomorrow. I can't wait for my money saving assignment this week. I will keep you posted. Okay, i think that is enough randomness for one post. Are you still reading @ this point-lol? If so, what did you do this weekend? Have a great week!

It's BACK

Yep, that's right, soccer Saturdays are here again. The men in my life could not be any more excited about the season. We got up bright & early to start our day with a 9am game. John rolled out of bed this morning & said "I am so tired. I didn't get very much sleep last night. I was too excited about the games today". My husband is too funny & way into this soccer thing! I then told him that I didn't have any problems sleeping through the night :). Tanner's select team had the 9 am game & they had a rough start to their season. They lost with a 5 to 1 final score. It broke their hearts. They played in several tournaments over the summer & did very well. They hardly lost a game. When you watch the video below, Tanner is # 14 (the top left of the screen) in green. He has the ball, looses it for a second, gets the ball back & has an awesome pass & his friend T nails it right into the goal (our only goal). It was very exciting!

Don't forget to pause the music & don't have your sound up too loud. WARNING**Excited Mom screaming...what can I say? I was proud of my boy!

Carter had a 10 am game & John is the coach. Tanner, Brody & I were a little late, about 15 minutes. By the time we showed up, Carter's team had already scored 5 goals. Holy smokes, those boys were on fire. I guess they made a goal in the 1st 30 seconds of the game. The forwards went right down the field, Carter passed it to his team mate P & he kicked it right into the goal. The final score ended up being 9 to 0. All of the boys rotated positions & lots of them scored goals today. It was so exciting & a great way to start the season off.

We are so proud of our boys & for their love of the game.

And the Academy Award goes to....

So on our way home from Tahoe yesterday, we were listening to the radio. A commercial comes on that asks, "Has your child ever wanted to be a model? Has your child ever wanted to appear in commercials or on TV shows?" All of a sudden Tanner yells "Yes, I want to be an actor. I want to be on TV". Carter simply replied, "You can't be on TV, you don't even know how to act". Tanner replied, "Oh yes I can. I am a soccer player & I KNOW HOW TO ACT ". John & I were cracking up. Every time our family watches a soccer game on TV, John will usually yell @ the TV, telling one of the players that they are such a good actor,(code for, that player is faking an injury). So... now my son thinks he's an actor jut because he can play soccer & be dramatic when falling down on the soccer field. The wheels in this boys head don't ever stop & I love that!

P.S.-The count down is on. I leave for Chicago, exactly one week from today! Woot-woot! I am so excited & I can't wait!

Undefeated

Another Soccer Saturday! Tanner & Carter's teams are still undefeated. Tanner has had an amazing season. He scored three goals today in the first half. We love to watch this boy play soccer. He is fast. He plays hard. He loves the game. He enjoys playing with his friends. He played forward for the first half & was goalie the 2nd half. Our team has played so well this season. Way to go Swords.

Carter had a great game too! They won! Carter scored two goals-woot woot.

Both boys had Grandpa Hans down at the net with them today. He was giving them pointers. They loved it. They both have one game left & our fingers are crossed that the teams will remain undefeated. Good luck boys!

Soccer Saturday & Cub Scout Update

It seems like I just posted about the boys soccer games... the week goes by way too fast. here we go again! Both boy's teams won their games yesterday! YEAH!!! They are still both undefeated. YEAH! Tanner scored two goals & Carter scored two too! Tanner's team won 6-2 & Carter's team won 6-0 (I think), I know they won! I missed Carter's game due to Tanner's game. It was fun to have Aunt Petra there & our niece Jeneca. We are enjoying the season & looking forward to a week off in a few weeks.
In other news, Tanner moved up a rank in Cub Scouts. He completed all of his Wolf requirements. He will now be working on his Bear. He also earned a few Arrow Points. Way to go Tanner! We are so proud of him!
Have a great Sunday

Soccer Saturday

Hang with me! I am a few days behind on the BLOG. I want to record info from the soccer games so I will have the stats for the boys scrapbooks. Another Saturday, another round of soccer games. The weather was chilly & it even rained on us during Tanner's game. I am so grateful for Julie & her huge umbrella(thanks Julie). She kept Brody & I dry. The ref's didn't show up for Tanner's game so John jumped in & reffed the game. He was drenched, poor guy! Both teams are still undefeated & doing really well. Carter's team won 7 to 0. Carter scored 3 goals & enjoyed the game. Tanner's team won 4-2. Tanner scored 3 of those goals. Tanner played forward during the first half & then sat the first part of the 2nd half. The other team scored two goals in the second half so coach put Tanner back in & told him to score one more goal. The boy did what he was told & put us ahead by two. John & I love to watch our boys play soccer. It is so exciting. They love it & it is always a great game to watch. I'll leave you with a picture of Carter & his best pal J.

Soccer Saturday

Another Saturday, another round of soccer games for the boys. Tanner's team won 7 - 3. Tanner scored 4 goals yesterday. It is so fun to watch him run up & down the field. He is fast & aggressive & loves the game. He got to play goalie during the 2nd half & that made him a happy boy. I'll be honest, it makes me nervous... he does well & can hold his own. Carter's team won 2-0. The team he played yesterday had won the week before with a score of 9-0. John's game plan for the team was DEFENSE. It worked. The boys worked so hard. They kept the other team from scoring. Carter didn't feel well yesterday, but he still played his little heart out & even scored a goal. We are enjoying the soccer season so far. I'll leave you with some pictures of tanner (#14).

First games of the season

Tanner & Carter love soccer! They live & breath it! They both enjoyed their first games this past Saturday! Both of their teams won & they both had awesome games & great contributions from each of them. Tanner got to play goalie for the first time & Carter had a great time playing the forward position. My intention was to take pictures but Mr. Brody wanted to be held during both games. I wasn't able to snap very many photos. I love this one of John sitting with his players giving them a pep talk before the game started. This will be our lives for the next two months. They love it & we love it! Game on!
