Game #4

A little secret behind the 22 hour escape for our Anniversary. When you have 4 active boys who are all playing soccer right now you can't (guilt free) ask someone to watch your kids and then produce a laundry list of the various places/games they need to be at. We decided to enjoy a quick escape and planned on being back in time to get everyone to their Saturday games.

Yes, I know!!! Game #1 usually comes before game #4. When you have 4 boys playing soccer on any given Saturday, there is no guarantee whose game I am actually going to get to watch. The 3 older boys are all playing at the Comp./ Select levels so they are all over town and out of town. This is Brody's first season of soccer. He has literally been counting down the days until it would be his turn to play. John is helping coach Brody's soccer team this year and that usually means he gets to see all of Brody's games. The first game I got to see Brody play in, I showed up to the fields with a dead battery. Oh the disappointment! Game #4 would be the next one I would get to see and I made sure the battery was charged.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the game. Brody will show up to most games wearing the Goalie jersey and ask coach if he can be the Goalie! He loves it!

Here is Brody nailing the ball right into the goal(#21). He kicked it so hard he fell down.

We have a team GOAL jar. When the kids score a goal, we add quarters (or whatever you amount you choose). I overhead one of the Dads say>|< " At this rate, our team party is going to be held in Vegas." The kids have scored quite a few goals so far. FUN!

He is having the time of his life. We believe it is all he had hoped it would be AND more.

mvp

Garrett's very 1st soccer season has come to an end. We enjoyed his last game & team party today. Garret had so much fun...he was all smiles on the field. He loved that he got to be on the same team of some of his very best friends. His coach was awesome & so good to the kids. Coach Andre stepped up & coached the boys when we were in need of a coach & he didn't even have a son/daughter on the team. Garrett loved playing for him. Along with their trophy's, coach Andre said something about each player & their ability on the field. He told Garrett that he was the MVP of the team & that he played hard.

Here is Garrett with coach Andre.

week in review...picture style

I can't believe a week has passed since my last post. After a crazy weekend(last Saturday) of soccer games, I was happy to just stay close to home & relax on Monday! I was able to sleep in till 8 am. Yes folks, in my world, that is sleeping in!
Instead of trying to recap everything, I thought I would post our week in review...picture style & a few thoughts.

Monday:

We have been enjoying these on a daily basis. When it is 100 degrees plus, these are a must, in BULK.

Tuesday:
we were able to enjoy a quick breakfast with my Mom, Grandma & Grandpa Shore & Aunt Carla! We had homemade waffles topped off with whip cream & fresh strawberries.

We don't get many visits from family so we take them when we can get them(we were a pit stop on their trip home from Utah)! It was nice to visit with them. The boys loved showing off for them.

Wednesday:
We escaped the heat again & headed to Tahoe! It was a FUN day playing in the water, riding on the boat & hanging out with friends!

Thursday:
We have spent a ton of time in the water this week. Whether it's been water balloon fights out front, swimming with friends, cooling off in Lake Tahoe, or just running through the sprinklers...the boys have loved cooling off.

Friday:
Our friends, the LaPortes(AKA The HILL people) invited us up to their house for a day of fun! They live in Foresthill & have an incredible backyard. Lots of room for the kids to play...and play they did! They rode bikes, had bike races, played water baseball & football, played with Buddy the dog, & played with the rocket launcher. We enjoyed lunch & my boys ate the cheese balls like they were going out of style! Thanks for a super, fun day Debby!

Saturday:
Here we are, one week later & we were back on the soccer fields. Tanner & Carter had their seeding tournaments today. From 8 am to 4 pm, we cheered the boys on. It was a little cooler today & their was even a warm breeze! Both teams did really well & took first place.

I can happily say that I am thrilled to be parked on my couch with the AC cranked. The boys are all showered/bathed & they smell clean again! We are looking forward to a night in!
Hope you are enjoying a lazy summer night too!

Carter has escaped a few haircuts this summer. Each & every time it was "his turn" to line up for a haircut, Carter would say "No thanks". He was firm about it too. He told us that he wanted to grow is hair out for his 1st soccer tournament of the season. What???

So, my cute 8 year old boy walks out of the bathroom looking like this yesterday!
Here is the soccer playing, rock star.

I had heard mention of a faux hawk for this tournament... but this is a full on Mohawk. I got a good chuckle out of his new style & am thankful he is a boy! One more haircut & we can take care of that hawk :-)!

We sat out in the 105 degree weather (in Folsom) for 5 hours today! It was hotter than HOT! Despite the heat, Carter had an awesome game. He scored two goals in the first game & was a great defensive player. It is so much fun to watch him play. The coach knows he can count on Carter to play his best wherever he plays on the field. They won their first game by 2 & lost their last by one goal. Way to go team Battle.

I am looking forward to the new soccer season but am not looking forward to the heat.

Saturday happenings

I thought it would be fun to kick this post off with a give away. One of my friends from Green Tangerines is getting married in a few weeks & her bridal shower is this weekend. I needed a card... so I whipped up this simple card & decided to make a few more for my stash & a few to give away! Just leave a comment on this post & you will be entered to win a half dozen wedding cards with envelopes. My boys will draw the lucky winner on Monday. I will either hand deliver them or pop them in the mail, depending where you live! Just for fun, When you leave comment, tell me how long you have known your spouse/S.O. & how long you have been
married.

It is only 11:30 am & I have watched two soccer games already & have dropped Carter off @ a birthday party. Tanner has an all day tournament in a neighboring town. I am home waiting for Carter's party to finish and Garrett & Brody are napping before we have to go back out into the heat. I have so much to do around the house today that it is hard to spend the entire day @ the soccer field. On the flip side, it is so much fun to watch Tanner play soccer. It is HIS sport, HE loves the game. When I left @ 10:45 am, they had won the 1st two games-way to go boys.

Carter had a basketball game last night & they won, 30 to 25. His defense was great. the team we played had one kid who made all of the shots but one. Had Carter not stayed on him, they would have beat us by a landslide. Way to go Carter.

Hoping you are accomplishing a ton today! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Soccer Saturday

This will be the last soccer Saturday post until next season. We enjoyed Tanner & Carter's last games of the season today! Both teams finished the season undefeated-WOOT -WOOT! The DYNOMITE team rocked the field! We were short a few players so most of them played the entire game. They were tired but did really well. The final score was 4 to 0. Carter scored three goals today. The other teams parents/coaches kept telling their players to watch out for & to stay on #21 (that would be Carter). Tanner did not feel good today. He insisted on playing his last game. He defended the goal for a while & did well. He kept the other team from scoring. He was not in full force today but tried his hardest. He scored a goal & the SWORDS ended up winning 2 to 0. We are so proud of our boys & of all of the boys on both teams! We love to watch them on the field.

P.S. I love Carter's red soccer cleats. I can find him anywhere on the field. Red is still his favorite color. A boy after my own heart!
