Character Counts

Brody and a few of his classmates received the Character Counts award for Responsibility today!
Mrs. T had nothing but wonderful things to say about Brody. She talked about how he comes to school, ready to learn and to do his work. She doesn't ever have to tell him what's next, he's always  ready! She said that he is a BIG helper when it comes to cleaning up and putting things away. We are super proud of Brody and his love for school and how hard he works.

Each month, our elementary school hosts an awards assembly. Each month, the entire student body, along with the teachers, focus on one of those character traits. This months character trait is CARING.

I am so proud of Garrett and Brody for earning that award this month. Their teachers had wonderful things to  say about them and their behavior towards their fellow peers.

Here is Garrett receiving his award from Mrs. DeCuir. She said, " This young man enters the classroom each day with a smile on his face. No matter which group I may assign him to in class, he works cheerfully with every member of the group. He is quick to volunteer to help his teacher with any task which needs to be done." Way to go, Garrett. We are proud of his caring ways.

This is Brody receiving his award from Ms. Lunn. She went on and on about Brody and the ways he shows cares. One of the things she said was "He shows he is caring by being considerate of others peoples feelings. He sets a wonderful example and is a pleasure to hve in our class." Again, we are so proud of Brody!

We are so thankful for the wonderful teachers who spend a good chunk of our children's day with them. We are very thankful for their caring spirits and for all that they do to make school a fun and enriching place to be!

600

We are so proud of Tanner. He received an invitation in the mail inviting him to the 600 Club Dinner with the principal. He scored a 600 (a perfect score) on the STAR (California state) test. Ms. Harmier treated the kids who got perfect scores to a pasta dinner from Original Pete's and dessert. Tanner said there were about 23 children (total) from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes who qualified. We are so proud of him and how hard he works to maintain his grades. We just got his first trimester report card(1st one from middle school) and he has earned a 4.0 GPA. Way to go, Tanner. Keep up the excellent work!

Coyote of the Month

We are so proud of Carter. At the end of each month, the elementary school has an award assembly. Each month, they learn about a new character trait. This months trait was RESPECT. Carter earned the Coyote of the Month award today. This is what his teacher had to say about him:
"I am so fortunate to have this young man in my class. He participates in class discussion. He completes his assignments including his homework. He would be the first to volunteer for anything including helping his peers. He is honest, kind and respectful. This student demonstrates all of the character traits and I could give this student the award every month."

WOW! Carter is a hard worker and we are so very proud of him!

character counts

garrett received an award at school today. this is always a surprise to the student. once the parent(s) walk into the classroom, they are onto you & the surprise is over.
each month, there is a character trait that the entire student body is asked to focus on. this months trait was respect. the teacher takes a minute to tell the class why this student earned this particular award. this is what garrett's teacher had to say about him:

this student makes good choices in the classroom and keeps his promises by staying on a blue bear. I can trust that this friend will work hard, even when i am not looking! He shows he is respectful by always trying his very best to share and play by the rules. this respect award goes to: garrett

he was a little bashful at first{totally surprised me} & then was all smiles when his teacher shared what garrett had done to earn his award. we are so proud of garrett and how hard he has worked this year. he has grown, leaps and bounds and continues to do so.
way to go garrett, keep up the awesome job!

two of his friends earned awards today, too. way to go f and d.

happy halloween

Our morning started off with Carter receiving an award @ school. Each month, there is a character trait that they focus on. This months theme was trust worthiness. Carter was one of the three children in his class to receive this award. This is what his teacher had to say about him: "This student is trustworthy and I can always count on him to do his best work. He is honest and always chooses to do the right thing. He is a great friend, a very hard worker and a wonderful student". Awesome job Carter.

Garrett enjoyed a fun party @ preschool this morning. They played Halloween Bingo, decorated little cakes, & made haunted houses out of sticker. He loved every minute of it. Here are a few pictures of Garrett & his preschool pals. Thanks for the photos Steph!

Then we headed back to the school in the afternoon. Tanner received an award too! He received the Coyote of the month award. This is what Tanner's teacher had to say:"Tanner is an excellent role model in our classroom. he has excellent attendance, behavior, and grades. He also knows how to treat others with respect. Tanner works hard in the classroom and strives to do his best".

We are so proud of Tanner & Carter. They love school & really do try to do their best everyday. We hope they keep up the good work.
Here are our traditional front door Halloween shots. It was so hard to get Brody to sit still, let alone smile.

We hit the streets around 6:15 pm tonight.

We went Trick or Treating with our friends, The Solano's.

It was fun to roam the neighborhood with them. They have four boys too! The boys were so excited, they ran from door to door. We were barely able to keep up with them :).
I could not believe how many people were out Trick or treating this year. It was insane. There were more people than I have seen in years... everyone was out. It started to rain a few times while we were out there. The rain did not damper our fun! A few umbrellas & boys who could care less that it was raining, the fun continued.

The boys hit the mother load in the candy department. I think the candy fairy will have to make a visit tomorrow night & leave a small present in return for their candy.

I am going to leave you with a few parting shots of our cute monkey. I gave him a real banana for the photo shoot. Brody Loves bananas so it was most appropriate that he was a monkey.

We hope you all enjoyed a fun & safe halloween!

Coyote of the Month

Carter received the Coyote of the Month award today. The characteristic that they focused on during the month of April was citizenship. On Monday, Carter came home with an envelope addressed to the Parents of Carter. He handed it to me & then tried to hover & read over my shoulder. He then immediately asked if he was getting an award. I simply replied that "it was a note to Daddy & I telling us that he had been good @ school". He was on to us. You never know if your child will be receiving the Coyote of the Month or the Character award. That part is a surprise to everyone. We tried to slip in the back door to the assembly this morning. You will find all of the kids looking around to see if their parents are there. Then it is a dead give away when you've been spotted. They know they are receiving an award. We thought we did a good job hiding in the back row until Carter's friend "E" spotted us & would not stop waving to us. He was telling Carter to "look, look, look, there's your Mom & Dad". We were cracking up. When Mrs. S called Carter's name for Coyote of the Month, he had a HUGE smile, he beamed from ear to ear.

This is what Mrs. S had to say about Carter ."Carter has earned Coyote of the Month for many reasons. He is excelling in all academic areas. He is responsible for completing assignments to his best ability, and returns homework on a regular basis. He makes good choices, and makes friends easily. I appreciate the good examples he sets in class. Carter is a wonderful student"!
I got all teary eyed when she said those things about my boy. He does try really hard. It is nice & feels good to hear it from others, especially his teacher. Some days I have a hard time sending them away to school each day. They are there for 6 plus hours of their day, then usually off to some sporting practice, home to eat & then bed. I feel like I don't get to spend enough time with the older boys. Sorry, kind of got off on a tangent. It is just nice to know that they are doing well in school & even better that they love being there. I am so grateful for fabulous teachers (knock on wood for the coming years) who really take the time to teach my children.

We are so proud of Carter & his achievements. Way to go Carter! Keep up the awesome work.
