One Little Word - 2014

I love starting the new year of with a word that I would like to focus on. I have done this in years past.  I kind of struggled to pick my One Little Word this year. A couple of words were being tossed around and I thought about them a lot.  I follow Big Picture Classes on Instagram. I believe(could be wrong) that this a photo/word by Cathy Z.. She is focusing on a word, a week.  Her very first word for the first week was Needed. This one little photo/word spoke to me. It was clear what my One Little Word would be.

My 2014 word is NEEDED(as in do what is...). My goal this year is to focus on what is needed and not to stress, worry or over analyze anything else. I will do my best to do what is NEEDED in regards to my family, myself, my children, my role as a wife, my calling as the Relief Society President, as a friend, as a volunteer at my boys school, as a daughter, as a sister and as a human being.

I am looking forward to a new year and a new word to focus on to help me become a better me.

One Little Word

It is that time again! Time to share my One Little Word for the 2013 year! You can find my One Little Word from the past 3 years here, here, and here. I have thought a lot about my One Little Word for this year and I have decided on the word Diligence!

The idea behind the One Little Word is that the one word you chose can become your mission statement, you one word mantra, your one word catalyst for change. It can be the ripple in your pond that begins a mighty change- Ali Edwards

dil·i·gence
1 /ˈdɪl ɪ dʒəns/ Show Spelled [dil-i-juh ns] Show IPA
noun
1. constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind.
2. Law. the degree of care and caution required by the circumstances of a person.
3. Obsolete . care; caution.
Origin: 1300–50; Middle English deligence  (< Anglo-French ) < Latin dīligentia,  equivalent to dīligent-  (stem of dīligēns ) diligent + -ia;  see -ence

I chose the word diligence because...
I want to be diligent in keeping my New Year's goals/resolutions.
I want to be diligent in reading my scriptures on a daily basis.
I want to be diligent in saying my daily prayers.
I want to be diligent in keeping up on our family blog.
I want to be diligent in fulfilling my Relief Society calling to the best of my ability.
I want to be diligent in making/trying new dinner recipes for my family.
I want to be diligent in attending the Temple each month.
I want to be diligent in striving to be better human being on a daily basis.
I want to be diligent in showing my love for my family.

I feel like there is a season for all things. The scripture in Ecclesiastes 3:1 has been playing over and over in my head for the last couple of weeks. It reads "To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven." I know I can't achieve and accomplish everything, all of the time. However,  I do feel like it is my season in life to be diligent in the above mentioned items. 2013 is off to a great start and is going to be a great year! I can feel it!

Do you pick One Little Word that you like to focus on each year? If you do, please share.

one little word

I am not late in picking my one little word for 2012. I actually had my word picked out by the day after Christmas. I am just running a little behind with my blog posts. I feel like my entire world is off by an entire week...no bueno. I joined in with Ali Edwards and many other bloggers to pick my one little word for 2012.

My One Little Word for 2012 is CONTINUE.

con·tin·ue (kn-tny)
v. con·tin·ued, con·tin·u·ing, con·tin·ues
v.intr.

2. To exist over a prolonged period; last.
3. To remain in the same state, capacity, or place: She continued as mayor for a second term.
4. To go on after an interruption; resume: The negotiations continued after a break for lunch.
v.tr.
1. To carry forward; persist in: The police will continue their investigation.
2. To carry further in time, space, or development; extend.
3. To cause to remain or last; retain.
4. To carry on after an interruption; resume.
5. Law To postpone or adjourn.

I thought a lot about my one little word and what I would like to do and accomplish in 2012. I finally narrowed my word down to CONTINUE. 2011 was an amazing year for me, on a personal level. I set set physical, personal and spiritual goals for myself all in hopes of becoming a better, stronger me. I worked really hard on achieving most of the goals that I set for myself. I really feel like I am still on a roll and want to continue down that same path. So, as I experience 2012, my goal is to continue doing what I am doing(with a few tweaks) and make me an even better me!

For fun, I tracked down my one little word from the past two years! I sure love starting my year of with a new word to focus on each year!
